Specifications do not tell you how a room feels.
144 West 18th Street, in Chelsea. Not a wall of sample boards — rooms with the systems running in them, so you can stand in a scene rather than read about one.

What you can do here
- Watch light changeFull-spectrum tunable white moving across the day, on the same wall, in the same paint. The difference between 2700K and 4000K on your own finish is not something a specification sheet can show you.
- Listen to a shadeThe quietest motor in the room is a specification decision. Run two side by side and you can hear which one belongs in a bedroom.
- Hold the keypadsEngraving, finish, button count. The part of the system your hand touches every day, and the part most often chosen from a photograph.
- See fabric against real glazingOpenness factor, blackout, glare. A swatch on a desk tells you almost nothing about what a 3% fabric does to a view at four in the afternoon.
- Try the interfacesKeypad, app and voice, side by side, before you decide which ones a room actually needs.
Booking a visit
Visits run about an hour and are booked rather than walk-in, so the rooms are yours and someone who knows the systems is with you the whole time.
Bring plans if you have them, photographs of the rooms that bother you, and anything already chosen — a paint, a fabric, a fixture. Seeing light on your own finishes is most of the value of coming in.
It is worth an hour if you are choosing a system, a fabric, or a keypad finish you will look at every day for the next decade.

Whether it is one room or a whole house, the first conversation is the same: what the rooms are for, what stage the drawings are at, and what is already decided.
