A curved corner living room in a high-rise, navy sofas on a sunlit rug and the lower Manhattan skyline through the windows.

The problem

When a designer approached us for a high-rise project in Midtown Manhattan, her main concern was illuminating an extensive art collection with the best possible light.

What we did

Our solution was Ketra by Lutron, known for its exceptional color rendering and over 16 million color combinations, perfect for highlighting art. To protect the art and furniture from sunlight, we installed automated shades with blackout material on curved tracks powered by Lutron. Control for both the lights and window treatments was streamlined through elegant Lutron Palladiom keypads. For the media room, we provided a Control4 system with Stealth invisible speakers, ensuring high-quality sound without compromising the aesthetic.

The result

The result is a functional, beautifully designed residence.

A living room with a large photograph of galloping horses over a tan leather sofa, a television and a credenza beside it.
A long dining table under a branch-shaped chandelier, navy armchairs in the foreground and Midtown towers through the windows.
A Lutron keypad on a wood-panelled wall with scene buttons labelled Family, Office, Bar, Kitchen, TV, Evening, Art and Shades.
A hallway bench in front of a large blue painting, the wall washed in violet light.

Artfully Designed Smart Home Solutions for a Midtown Manhattan High-Rise

Ketra by Lutron is specified here for its color rendering and its sixteen million color combinations. The point is not the number — it is that a pigment can be lit at the value that suits it, rather than at whatever a fixed lamp happens to produce.

Choosing that value per work, per wall, per hour is the design job. The hardware is the straightforward part.
